More on OS X conflicts with Windows Server Deduplication

Like other readers, Kyle Kelley has OS X Mac clients that are having problems connecting to Windows Server when the server's Deduplication feature is enabled. (Kelley didn't specify, but other readers have reported the problem with OS X 10.9 Mavericks.) As with other readers, he verifies that turning off Deduplication prevents the problem. He describes running the run the Expand-DedupeFile powershell cmdlet on the server. Kelley reports:

We have run into the same problem you report on your site. In our experience the Mac sees the files in the share, but you get an access denied error when opening them. If you run the Expand-DedupeFile powershell cmdlet on the server then you will be able to access the files. However the next time the dedupe job runs it recreates the problem. The only workaround we found was to disable deduplication on the shared volume.

If you've seen this problem .
