Microsoft releases Outlook bug-fix update

Microsoft has released Office for Mac 2011 14.3.9, which focuses on fixing problems with Outlook running in OS X OS X 10.5.8 or later. One fix alleviates a problem with Outlook for Mac not to connecting to Exchange when Outlook uses certain proxy servers.

The 14.3.9 update also fixes a bug that causes Outlook to always send read receipts after a user reads a message that a read receipt requested. After updating, Outlook will enable the user to decide whether to send a read receipt, and will remember a user's Always Send or Never Send settings. The bug fix works with Exchanger Servers 2007 and 2010, Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 3, and Microsoft Exchange Online in Microsoft Office 365.

Conversation threading is also improved. According to Micrsoft:

This update includes functionality that uses the In-Reply-To and Reference fields in mail headers to improve conversation threading for the display of conversation views.

The updated Outlook will now use IMAP instead of POP as a default configuring for Yahoo Mail and accounts.

The 14.3.9 update requires that Office 2011 14.1.0 or later is installed.
